BER program delivers better facilities for Kuraby State School
BER is a key part of the Rudd Government's $42 billion Nation Building - Economic Stimulus Plant to support jobs, stimulate local economies and invest in important infrastructure for the long-term.
Mr Perrett said the new facilities would be a great benefit to Kuraby State School and the local community.
"If you listen to people like Opposition Leader Tony Abbott they will tell you that this investment in education is a waste of money," he said.
"But if you talk to the local principal, parents and tradespeople who worked together on this project you will get a totally different story about a program that supported local jobs and truly delivered outstanding 21st century education facilities.
"To see these new buildings funded, planned and constructed in less than 12 months is a credit to the school community and to our local tradespeople."
Mr Perrett said the opening of the new buildings marked an exciting phase in the Building the Education Revolution.
"It is tremendous to celebrate the opening of this new multipurpose hall and resource centre and to witness first hand, the impact it has had on Kuraby State School and the broader community," he said.
"I am also delighted this project has delivered value for taxpayers' dollars, was delivered on time and on budget and has employed many contractors from the building and construction industry."
The $14.1 billion Primary Schools for the 21st Century program has delivered funding to more than 7,900 eligible primary schools in every state and territory for major new infrastructure.
