Australia Day Awards to honour southsiders
Member for Moreton Graham Perrett today invited southsiders to attend the presentation of Moreton Australia Day Awards at Pegg's Park, Moorooka on 26 January.
"This special ceremony is about recognising the great work done by individuals to make our community a better place to live," he said.
"It's also a great time in the park with fun activities for the kids, free breakfast, community displays and delicious food stalls.
"I will be joined by State Member for Yeerongpilly Simon Finn and Moorooka Ward Councillor Steve Griffiths to also present other awards.
"And Lady (Benise) Killen will again present the Sir James Killen Award for Outstanding Community Service in honour of her late husband and the former Federal Member for Moreton."
Mr Perrett said the late Sir James Killen was a well-loved and long-serving Member for Moreton from 1955 until 1983.
"Sir James Killen was loved and respected by all sides of politics and someone who used his position as a member of parliament to speak up for what he believed in and foster community spirit," he said.
Moreton Australia Day Awards Presentation: 8:30 am, 26 January, Pegg's Park, Koala Road, Moorooka.
